About
I’m Gillian Crozier, a former two-time Canada Research Chair of the Environment, Culture and Values, and a Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada. I’m passionate about exploring the big questions raised by contemporary life through a philosophical lens.
I received a Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario, an M.A. from the University of Guelph, and a B.A. (Hons.) from McMaster University. My graduate research focused on the Philosophy of Biology and Cultural Evolution.
During a Post-Doctoral Fellowship on the Ethics of Health Research and Policy with the ‘Novel Tech Ethics’ (now ‘Impact Ethics’) research group at Dalhousie University, I expanded my focus to include the philosophy of technology and bioethics. This Post-Doc also offered me the opportunity to work for a short time in the Ethics Unit of the World Health Organization. My recent publications have focused on the impact of trans-national travel on medical and bio-labour, the ethics of ecological research, and inter-species politics.
